At Midnight I’ll Take Your Soul (1964)

Driven by the overwhelming desire to have a son to continue his bloodline, blasphemous Zé do Caixão, the wicked undertaker of a tight-knit, God-fearing Brazilian village, sets his mind on finding the perfect woman to bear his child. Having grown tired of his infertile wife, Lenita, the despicable mortician sets his sights on impregnating his best friend Antonio’s girlfriend, Terezinha, and no one can stand in his way. This Night I’ll Possess Your Corpse (1967)

Coffin Joe is still looking for the perfect woman to give birth to a son of his, and, cleared of the past crimes in the first film (At Midnight I’ll Take Your Soul), keeps terrorizing the people in his small town with his iconoclast and sadistic practices.

The Awakening of the Beast (1970)

During a debate of journalists with the renowned psychiatrist Dr. Sérgio and José Mojica Marins, a.k.a. Zé do Caixão, Sr. Sérgio presents several cases of kinky sex and orgy associated with the use of drugs. The journalists defend that the cases are related to perverts and criminals, but Dr. Sérgio blames the influence of drugs for the violence. Then Dr. Sérgio invites four persons from different classes to use LSD and analyze the effect of Zé do Caixão’s films in their twisted minds to prove his theory.

When the Gods Fall Asleep (1972)

Finis Hominis is a mental patient who is kept in an insane asylum and is known for his occasional escapes from the institution, including the most recent episode during which Finis Hominis became an influential world figure during the few days of his escape. Again hospitalized, he sees increasing social, religious, and political unrest in the news and feels the need to escape the institution to put order in the streets. He wanders through society, influencing and interfering in isolated incidents, correcting wrongs, and exposing corruption primarily in a strictly accidental or coincidental manner.

Hellish Flesh (1977)

Dr. Medeiros is a brilliant scientist who doesn’t have time for their beautiful wife Raquel, so she falls for Oliver, her husband’s best friend, and soon they plot to kill George and inherit his fortune. Raquel throws acid on George’s face, disfiguring it. Raquel and Oliver spend all his money as he recovers in the hospital. After months in care, Dr. George comes home with a plan for revenge.

Embodiment of Evil (2008)

After forty years in prison, the evil gravedigger Josefel Zanatas, a.k.a. Zé do Caixão, is released by the lawyer Lucy Pontes by Brazilian Laws. He moves to the slums with his followers who worship him, and he seeks out the perfect woman to bear his children while haunted by the ghosts of his victims. The vigilante brothers Captain Osvaldo Pontes and his brother Coronel Claudiomiro from the Military Police chase Zé do Caixão in the slums to kill him, and they find a track of tortured and mutilated bodies.
