Alien (1979)
In the distant future, the commercial spaceship crew of Nostromo is on their way home when they pick up a distress call from a distant moon. The crew is under obligation to investigate, and the spaceship descends on the moon afterward. After a rough landing, three crew members leave the spaceship to explore the area on the moon. Simultaneously, as they discover a hive colony of some unknown creature, the ship’s computer deciphers the message to be a warning, not a distress call. When one of the eggs is disturbed, the crew realizes that they are not alone on the spaceship and must deal with the consequences.
Aliens (1986)
57 years after Ellen Ripley had a close encounter with the reptilian alien creature from the first movie, she is called back, this time, to help a group of highly trained colonial marines fights off against the sinister extraterrestrials. But this time, the aliens have taken over a space colony on the moon LV-426. When the colonial marines are called upon to search the deserted space colony, they later find out that they are up against more than they bargained for. Using specially modified machine guns and enough firepower, it’s either fighting or dying as the space marines battle against the aliens. As the Marines do their best to defend themselves, Ripley must attempt to protect a young girl who is the sole survivor of the nearly wiped out space colony.
Alien 3 (1992)
Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) is the only survivor when she crashes lands on Fiorina 161, a bleak wasteland inhabited by former inmates of the planet’s maximum-security prison. Once again, Ripley must face skepticism and the alien as it hunts down the prisoners and guards. Without weapons or modern technology of any kind, Ripley leads the men into battle against the terrifying creature.
Alien: Resurrection (1997)
The saga continues 200 years after Ripley sacrificed herself for the sake of humanity. Her erstwhile employers are long gone. This time, the military resurrects the one-woman killing machine through genetic cloning to extract the alien from within her, but during the process, her DNA is fused with the queen, and then the aliens escape. Now Ripley must decide where her allegiance lies.
Prometheus (2012)
Following a faint trail of clues, the accomplished archaeologist, Doctor Elizabeth Shaw, and her partner, Charlie Holloway, along with a seventeen-man crew, embark on an ambitious, deep-space scientific expedition. Aboard the revolutionary space-exploration starship, USCSS Prometheus, the team sets foot on the rocky terrain of the desolate exomoon, LV-223, in 2093 to investigate the existence of the superior extraterrestrial species known as the “Engineers.” But, there, inside a mysterious, complex structure of cavernous dark chambers and an intricate underground system of tunnels, more enigmas await. Now, a terrifying discovery threatens not only the outcome of the bold outer-space mission but also the very future of humankind. Is the world prepared for the answers to the fundamental questions of human existence?
Alien: Covenant (2017)
In 2104, almost eleven years after the disastrous expedition to the distant moon, LV-223, in Prometheus (2012), the deep-space colonization vessel, USCSS Covenant, is on course the remote planet, Origae-6, with more than 2,000 colonists in cryogenic hibernation to build a new world. Instead, a rogue transmission entices the crew to a nearby habitable planet that resembles Earth. As a result, the Covenant’s unsuspecting crewmembers will have to cope with biological foes beyond human comprehension. What started as a peaceful exploratory mission will soon turn into a desperate rescue operation in uncharted space. Is there an escape from the treacherous, mysterious planet?
